Content
“How to Be Strategic” is an intense, mini-MBA-type course that equips participants with a very different mindset, seeing business solutions much faster with greater clarity. This is backed by a comprehensive toolset, of 10 strategic thinking techniques, to crack a large variety of problems.
Who should attend
Anybody with 4+ years of professional experience. Typically members of the central teams (strategy, finance, marketing, bus dev, product, etc), future leaders across the company (on the “high potential” track), and managers in business units facing strategic challenges. Seniority ranges from 5 to 20 years of professional experience - everybody benefits, if differently for each participant.
What you will learn
The programme comprises 7 plenary lectures, and 4 group exercises, densely packed over 2 days. The 10 strategic thinking techniques you will learn are:
Strategic Mindset (4 Routes to Completion)
Structured Logic Trees (Mind Maps, Magic Tree, Pyramid Principle)
Key Strategy Theories (Happy Line, Lean Startup, Innovator’s Dilemma)
Agile Thinking Techniques in Practice (Mutation Game, Beautiful Constraint, Payoff Profiles)
How does it compare
The content of this course is similar to Fred Pelard’s in-house courses “Strategy 201” and “Strategic Thinking Level 2”. The learning objectives are the same, even if with a few more techniques here. If you’ve already attended a 201 or Level 2 course with Fred, then this “How to Be Strategic” course is probably a better gift to your direct reports or your immediate colleagues than it is for you.
